What is most exciting for your organization around the opportunity with CBRS and OnGo?

  • As a developer of Private Mobile core solutions for well over 10 years, we know that one of the biggest barriers to private LTE connectivity is a clear and understandable path to spectrum availability.  With the availability of CBRS spectrum, what is most exciting is that the approaches to the application of private LTE connectivity can vary widely as can the results. CBRS with OnGo provides a great ecosystem and framework where Service Providers and Enterprises can go to get the information they need along with the confidence that hardware is certified for 3.5GHz and SAS integration.

 What verticals do you see as having the most potential for your business with OnGo?

  • From a mobile core perspective, the Quortus solutions are equally applicable across multiple vertical sectors. Our channel partners provide a great additional layer of service and support into their areas of expertise that span Enterprise, Industry, Government and Education verticals across a wide variety of installation types like factories & warehouses, offices, hospitals & care homes, and University campuses among others.

What use cases do you see as having the most potential for your business with OnGo (private LTE, neutral host, etc.)?

  • We see the key use case and main area of growth in Private LTE, as more Enterprises utilise CBRS  as a replacement to reliance on the operator, or as an augmentation to existing Wi-Fi installations. We are also seeing some interesting use cases coming from last-mile Fixed Wireless Access deployments and Neutral Hosts where CBRS services are provided in cooperation with the operator to increase coverage and or capacity in targeted high pedestrian traffic locations like malls and stadiums.

Tell us about an OnGo deployment (completed or planned) that your organization is participating in.

  • Quortus, via one of our key strategic partners TLC Solutions, recently entered a five-year supply agreement with the Utah Education & Telehealth Network (UETN) in Salt Lake City, Utah, to provide the Core Network infrastructure for its Private LTE network. The project is part of the UETN initiative to deliver broadband wireless access to facilitate on-line learning throughout the state.

What OnGo products or services does your organization offer?

  • Quortus has a variety of products to cater to different sizes and complexities of networks:
    • ECX Core – a highly scalable virtualised core for 4G and 5G Private Networks tailored for larger onsite or hosted deployments.
    • ECX Edge – Quortus’ MEC-enabling software solution for ECX Core installs providing local breakout allowing local IT administrators control over their data and who can access it
    • ECX Pack – a field-deployable Private LTE (4G) and 5G software solution ideal for embedding onto lightweight ARM-based appliances or directly onto the radio.

What are your thoughts on how the PAL auction concluded?

  • The consensus in the industry is that the PAL auctions surpassed all expectations of auction proceeds. For those who bought PAL licenses it reflects the commitment to CBRS and OnGo.  For them, a new journey has begun in earnest to reap the rewards of OnGo and the return on their investments.  The consumption of these PAL services will yield a second wave of innovation such as secondary markets for PAL licenses.  And then the cycle of innovation begins again as those preferring a PAL license now have access from a secondary provider.

By the end of 2020, what changes do you expect to see in the market for OnGo?

  • Since the advent of wireless connectivity, users have sought available and secure wireless connectivity.   By the end of 2020, we see continuing momentum from the success of the PAL auctions into more commercial deployment of OnGo solutions.  CBRS, the Innovation Band, will attract the attention of these users as more OnGo deployments become known.  The habit of getting by with existing alternatives will give way as the news of more OnGo branded solutions become known.
